Hey guys,

You can prolly tell from the title that I have the dreaded aiptasia and I can't get rid of it.. I have tried the aiptasia x and it used to work but no longer does. It's in both my 93g cube and my 10g nano. How should I get rid of it without pulling apart the whole tank?

For the 93 I have also tried a filefish and copperband butterfly. The copperband I just didn't have luck with. Couldn't even get it to eat live food. And the filefish picked at my corals.

Should I bite the bullet and get berghnia nudi branches? I have a springers dottyback in the ten gallon and lots of different wrasses in the 93g. Would they just make them an expensive snack?

Any advice is welcome!!

Thanks

Peppermint shrimp will keep them out of your tank.

LFS owner told me Peppermint shrimp as well.. Went and bought 2, Never touched them.. But ive also heard its hit or miss if the Pep Shrimps will take care of them. Could be worth a shot if you havnt tried already.

I'm surpised the Copperband didn't work. I had Aiptasia in my 75g and bought a Copperband. It took him about a week to get used to the tank and then, he went after it. Cleaned everything up, including a big one, I could not get at with Aiptasia X, withing 2 weeks.

Now, he eats pellets on a regular basis but still hunts the Aip. None spotted in my tank since!

Idk. The species just hates me lol the first one died the same night I got it. Acclimated him fine just like normal and no bullying. Second one was picking around the rocks fine but a couple days later ended up dead and third one was doing great very active but he just would not eat a thing. Even bought live food and he wouldn't eat it. So I gave up on them, I didn't want to keep killing them :(

trap the nudi preds, put nudis in tank, let them do their magic, try and catch a few to save, release the KRAKEN! (your nudi preds lol). WIN!

That is an awesome idea but. Every single fish in my tank is a nudi pred. And I would have to take the tank apart to catch them bc we all know wrasses are close to impossible to catch.

Im talkin fishtrap, ive seen your rockwork and theres no catching with a net lol...you could jerry rig a small holding tank into your current system for all the fish?

I have a 93oceanic as well tried all of the above the only thing I had some success with was a copperband but since I don't qt ick got the better of both of them "2copperbands" so I ordered aptasia eating nudi branches and so far they are working it will be a slow process since I have many but in a couple of more weeks I'm hopeing they will all be gone

I'm not sure how many you actually have but I've had the best luck boiling water and squirting them with a syringe and a long piece of rigid tubbing. There will be small ones and ones you can't see so adding 10 pepper mint shrimp should take care of them.
On thing for sure is to put on a strong offense because they will continue to multiply.

I've tied pep's they did'nt work. Then bought a file fish and a Copper banded butterfly fish. The file fish died in a week. The Copper band seemed to do the trick, no signs of Apps. for a year. Now the butterfly's in a hospital tank for a month now, and I see small aiptasia every where. So I think the copperbanded only keeps them at bay but dose not eliminate them.
