I think driftwood lowers the pH but you could possibly use petrified wood

I've seen tanks with wood in them yes. I think the wood was sealed though. Like in epoxy or resin they use on fake fish decor. It was a pier tank or a mangrove lagoon tank with a tree trunk as the main aquascape. Deff doable and a kool idea but a bit of research. Keep us updated! I'd like to know more.

Bad idea. The wood will decay and throw off the chemistry. That is why driftwood is used in freshwater tanks that need a low pH. The water becomes more acidic.

IMO, if the wood is clean and you like it, it's not a problem.

It may not decay much, and if it does, it's no big deal unless you used it structurally and breaking years from now would be a problem.

Wood usually releases tannins which darken water. U gotta run lots of carbon and replace often to keep clear water
