I put my tank and stand too close to the wall. I hate a gap between the tank and the wall. I have a small antique (looking) stand that currently houses a power-strip and all of the electrical wiring for two mp40qd's and three xr30g4pro's. The sump for this tank is plumbed out to the garage, so no other wiring is necessary inside the house. I recently purchased another eb832 to plug all of the inside electrical into. The problem is is that it won't fit in the antique stand with all the other components. I am tempted to drill a 2" hole into the back corner of the stand to pass the wiring through in order to move all the wiring into the tank cabinet. Do you think that would affect the structural integrity of the stand? The tank is a 5' 120 gallon. Thoughts?

Open the doors. Are there beams that supply support? Or is it just the outer shell?(common in plywood standa)

Should be fine as long as you drill some distance away from the edge.

Go slow drilling as to keep the hole round, carbide bit will help against dulling on the glue. sharp edges will add a stress point.

I have not done this so would wait on others to chime in though who may have real experience.

Should be fine. Drill thru the thin plywood portions and stay away from the framing a few inches.

I would do it 4-5 inch3s forward of your power strip and about as high as the display
