Drilling a tank????

I am about to set up my tank after slowly accumulating stuff...... I have all the hob stuff for the sump but figured this is my last chance to drill it. Comment concerns? Lots of bad vids out there so wanted to ask some actual experienced ppl.

We are talking about a used 125 gallon I picked up and not sure the brand or age. I was going to put 2 1'' holes in the bottom center with a bulkhead for return and drain. Lots of ppl say the bottom isn't tempered but sides might be?

Any help would be appreciated including parts I will need to make the bulkhead reliable. Links to a kit if possible.

That's backwards bottoms tempered sides are not.

Safest way to tell is to call the manufacturer. Many tanks might have stickers alerting you that the bottom is tempered (usually the bottom, sides are not), but my 125 did not have a warning that it was tempered.

If you don't know who made the tank, you can always view the glass through polarized sunglasses to tell if the tank is tempered.

I just drilled my 40 breeder sump. I was a little nervous doing it, it was my first time. But it was so easy, just keep water flowing on it and very light pressure. Definately make sure it's not tempered though.
