drilling a tank..

looking at my options.. found a good deal on a new 75 tank and stand not reef ready. Haven't bought it yet.. have some other options out there as well. But if I do is there someone in the club who would be willing to drill the tank for me? I would need help on where to place it as well. I am a complete noob on sumps/overflows and the like.. I've always had hob stuff.

Reef ready usually means bottom is drilled, most tanks have a tempered bottom if so itll shatter upon trying to drill it. Absolutely necessary to find out if its tempered. If you drill a side its more likely to not be tempered. Glasshole.com has a great youtube video its a little nerveracking but not too hard Ive drilled a dozen or so now. A spray bottle to keep the bit cool too.

I got a synergy shadow overflow and love it. Just lay the tank down, use plumbers putty around the area to contain some water, and drill it. I did mine in the living room. Just dont push the drill at all. Let the weight of the drill be all the downward pressure.
