Anybody have any good info on drilling tanks and how close to the edge is too close?
I drilled my rimless 1/2 inch thick glass Deep Blue maybe to close to the top edge. I know of the 1-1.5 of hole diameter rule, but at the last second i decided to move the internal overflow box to raise my water level. So i have two, 2 3/8ths holes about 1.75 from the top edge. Hope i didnt ruin this tank. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The bulkhead will help reinforce the glass pane. It should be okay, just try to resist the urge to lean too hard on that area -EVER. :)

Anybody else have a similar situation and your tank didn't blow? Or I guess if it did blow that'd help me out too. Obviously I will do a water fill test, but I'm worried something may happen down the road

Should be good. Mines similarly close to the top. I've done several tanks with bulkheads in this range without issue. The seams have failed before the overflows in the older ones. As mentioned above, the bulkhead will reinforce the glass. What ever you do, don't torque the bulkheads up or down, though. That'll will most likely cause a problem.

Right, all bulkheads are always installed hand-tight. Never use a wrench.

I drilled a 20 tall within 1" of the top and it cracked while drilling. Still used the tank as it was only for breeding. Basically if you completed the cut then you're probably I'm in the long run.

One thing i do is hand sand the edges of the hole with fine grit emery cloth so the chips and clamshells smooth off just so they dont get a chance to be more. my theory is like drilling a hole at the beginning of a crack to relieve stress to keep it from spreading. not sure if its right or wrong but
