Hi all.. currently have a RSM 650 that I'm running a calcium reactor on.. alk is stable.. but my DT is running low ph.. I have tried bringing fresh air into the skimmer and it did not work.. put the output of the reactor to the skimmer area, etc.. would like to use Kalk to raise my ph..my ph ranges from 7.7-7.8 .. I know it is within range but I would like to bump it up some.. anyhow looking at getting a Kalk reactor and drip into my sump.. I don't want to go the ato way.. I want to keep my stock ato in place..

So I was looking at two options .. dripping it based on ph controlled via my apex.. or a constant drip or timed drips via the apex.. not sure which is better or worse.. finally what about salinity .. if I drip it either way it will lower it regardless.. correct?? Thanks

If you don't mind I'm going along for the ride. So...

BUMP! :)

Biggest issue with dripping Kalk I had 20 years ago was the valve clogging up over time. I would have to check it every day to keep it dripping the same everyday. It's best to not case pH numbers. Kalk will stabilize the pH number over time.

reefwiser,
If your runnig a cal. reactor and your ph lowers from the reactor.
What method would YOU use to bring up and hold ph over the long haul?

I use both calcium reactor and kalk dispenser by tunze. I split Ato via two valves. During day Alk is pretty stable. Dose Kalk during night to keep Ph and Alk is straight. Then do quick Alk test in morning. Then switch over to straight RODI water.

When I used to run a calcium reactor, I noticed that my ph was consistently low if I was adding to much co2 to the reactor. Maybe check the ph of the reactor water and see if it is lower than it needs to be?
