That's a super funny thought, fair to mention I only have 1 power head and constant flow in the same direction, I know it's not the best idea and I personally don't like it... But it works and the price of 2 mp40's W/ a controller is pretty high (in my opinion)

Don't know how big your tank is but you might be able to go with 2 MP10's instead of the MP40's

Just got a TDS meter, the water I use reads 0 our tap reads 190.

In my opinion you don't need a controller just two timers and two power heads. I solved my water flow with 2 PH's, one I will label A and the other B. A will run 6 hrs B will come on and A will shut off, I over lapped mine by 15 minutes each time and some time during the 24 hrs both are running at the same time so I have water coming from all different directions. I have been using $10 power heads for at least 2 years. KISS and inexpensive.

On a 4 foot long tank? What kind of pumps and timers? Only asking because I can hardly afford to advance anything

I have a 75 gal 4 ft. with a 800 gph pump on each end. I set my pumps at 6 hrs to mimic ocean tides with them over lapping 15 min. or so. got pumps on amazon for app. $10.00 each.

Being that i, and I would imagine most people refuse to use suction cups... Here's the best I found on amazon, I don't like the look of them and the flow is a bit overkill... But I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go with these https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07KF13GR1/ref=mp_s_a_1_24?ie=UTF8&qid=1545890389&sr=8-24&keywords=fish+tank+powerhead&dpPl=1&dpID=41qED9Vnk6L&ref=plSrch&th=1&psc=1
I attached magnets to mine but what you are looking at looks very good but like you said that is a lot of volume of flow.
