Drop off at the park

Great start! Looks like you are ready for water. I have the same tank and about the same stand design. What light are you planning on running? If you want check out my build thread.
Wow! Thanks for the link. Both are very cool! I like the plate idea a lot! It’s so interesting to see how things look and the choices people make. I will definitely take a couple of you cabinet pics and send to my friend building for me. Your backup tank for fresh water look nice. Is it a specific tank type or just an extra aquarium?

the light I got is a black AI Prime led. Here’s a list of all the things I’m starting with. I won’t turn on the light for a bit, and I am planning to pick up the protein skimmer soon. I don’t think it will be necessary for a bit, and my local store was out.

Oh, I see the hydrofill tank on your list. Pricier than that 5 gallon bucket. but it looks nice. I will have to think about that.

I spent the money on the ATO tanks because I have very limited space under the tanks and they fit so nice. But I get it all they do is hold fresh water. I run a AI prime on a 5 gallon mixed reef they are a nice light should work good on your tank. If you have not bought the skimmer yet might want to hold off. My tanks been set up for almost 2 years and don’t run a skimmer. I just do biweekly 5 gallon water changes. I am all for skimmers had one on my 150 and if I had a tank 40 gallons or more I would have one for sure. If you already have it let me know how it works for you after you get the set up.

They both might just go on my wish list for later then. Thanks for the advice!

Water added! And bacteria and heater and all the equipment turned on. Now we wait!

Tank is cycling well. I finally started seeing ammonia and then nitrate. Happy with that progress.

But the exciting this is my stand. still has to be painted and handles added but it’s looking so nice. And looks like I’ll be needing something smaller than a 5 gallon bucket for the extra water. But oooh la la.

Picked up the stand. Got everything set up and moved to the new spot. Picked up a blue legged hermit crab since we still needed to do a water change before we were ready for our first fish. Maybe a clownfish next weekend.

Two little fishies. I think a snow storm and a premium black snow flake. So far, all good! Adding microbactor clean to skip the ugly.

Two more critters. A yellow watchman goby and a tailspot blenny. Got the hydrofill tank set up and the cords managed. Fed some frozen food for the first tome today! Fun things to look forward to!!! Corals soon. And coralline- pink fusion- should be coming any day.

Added my first corals. Went with a green star polyp for the back wall, a green dragon eye zoanthid, and an orange pink acan with a green center. Only problem, my goby is missing. I am hoping he’s hiding somewhere in the tank.
This week my fire shrimp molted. Scared me a lot! But he’s just fine. He’s been cleaning lemonhead. Sure hope that guy shows back up.

Not an acan, a blastomussa. So many different things to remember. Blenny found a new spot in the rock. Zoanthidd are open and Vlad is watching closely.

These two didn’t make it. the blenny was kind of sad all week. And today he zoomed around and dive bombed into the sand and died. The goby was fine, then disappeared yesterday into a burrow. He came out last night just fine. He was dead this morning.

Did a big water change (about 7.5 gallons) and added a carbon filter pad in the sock. Holding on any more additions until things settle.

Picked up the stand. Got everything set up and moved to the new spot. Picked up a blue legged hermit crab since we still needed to do a water change before we were ready for our first fish. Maybe a clownfish next weekend.
Were there any special considerations for moving the tank to the new stand since it already had water in it? I would also like to start cycling my tank while waiting for the stand to arrive. I’m having trouble finding information on moving nano tanks small distances if they already have water/rock in them. Maybe because it’s not a big deal?

Thanks!
