HI all just wanted to share something i was doing .. its took me bout 9 months to get here but most stuff is DIY so takes longer lol

Anyways I've built this Drop off reef in 19mm glass.. tank is 500mm wide 1500mm long and the drop is 1100mm top to bottom

Currently no fish in there or corals as i have water contaminants " heavy metals" i believe this has come from the DIY route and when drilling the cabinet some metals have got into the system so currently fixing this.

i have too much Live roc in the system as i bought form different sources to get a good variety of life into here to which im not happy with... instead of selling the extra rock off ive decided to build another tank which started off as a planted show refugium but has now turned into garden eels and pipe fish lol

This will be 700mm long 500mm wide and 800mm deep with a 10 " sand be in there.. this will sit next to the display and will be pumped into the tank creating on system

This is all still in my head so will need some help with the finer pints hence the post lol

so sweet!!! What’s the tank and glass cost to build that?

This looks amazing and I am following already, but I've got a quick question:

How do you reach down there to put corals / do maintaince? I believe this place - the absolute bottom of your tank - will get all the macro-garbage and will clog up fast.

And a follow up question if I may:

How do you manage your flow?

The tank looks more than amazing and I can't wait to see it full with corals. Keep the fotos coming :)

I would assume he has a return hole drilled on the drop down wall. This is how I would build it

I love garden eels. I've seen "fields" of them while scuba diving in Puerto Rico. So I made a DSB 70 gallon dedicated to them.
Shortly afterwards, I learned that garden eels are jumpers! Who knew?
My dog enjoyed the occasional "fish stick" on the floor.

Thinking of building a floating reef above the sand then its more area for the eels

What would you suggest for flow in there

Also is the super deep sand bed gonna cauce a issue been connected to the drop off reef

Sorry just seen ur question

There is a mp40 down there and around 5000ltr closes loop which I hope will help

You can reach with tongs but yes stuff will just have to take care of its self in there thinking of rock nems down there to eat the crap or plenty cuc
