Dropping a circuit into living room?

EMT used to be required by code in the Chicago area. I do not know if that has ever changed with recent code cycles.

This is why I asked. When I lived in Illinois it was required.

Haha just moved in bout 5 days ago.

I think when I have them drop the line I’m going to have them tie in to place an outlet about 6.5 feet up to hide the plugs for the lights within a floating canopy so that there’s no wire runs down the wall.
