Hi I am confused. I have decided to start my first saltwater tank (FOWLR) with dry rock. I would also like to dry scape so that I can attempt to get a look that Im happy with and then glue the structure for stability. How do I cure the dry rock and do a dry scape? Is it either or?

You have many options and they'll all work.
You can cure the rock in the tank after you get the scape you want all set up.
You could cure the rock then let it dry out and then aquascape.

I cured first in a brute can and then aquascaped all the wet rocks using a drill bit and fiberglass rods. Took about 2 hours and made 6 or 7 different designs before I settled on the one I liked. Made a little mess but not bad.

Something to consider is, you may want to make the rock work in sections so if you ever do have to, you can take pieces out. Comes in handy for killing some pest you don't want or for other maintenance. If you do that you might be able to cure it in a brute tub.

High pressure washing with straight water is good to get rid of loose chunks, dust, etc. Let dry in the sun for a few days. It's amazing how long it takes to dry out. You can use a heavy hammer and concrete chisel to break your rocks into shapes and sizes that work for your design. Gluing them together is actually kinda fun. I mark out with masking tape the shape of my tank on the concrete floor in my garage. I use "apoxie sculpt" (two part putty which comes in colors) to "cushion" the connection between rocks. But I put some superglue gel on both rock surfaces - place the putty between them - then push them together. If I need "instant" hardening, I use "insta-set super glue accelerator" by Bob Smith. Just spray the putty & glue connection. Instant hardening. Works great for ledges, towers, etc. But like others have said, consider that you may have to pull apart your reef structure at some point. So don't make your pieces too big. Hope this helps. Cheers!

Thank you all for the respnses. I think I get it. Cure to ensure there are no unwanted pest. Let dry out. Aquascape then cycle. Long route but I am very patient.
