I think I have my scape done, and something I am happy with. Since I will have to move it from table into the tank when time comes, I want it to match what I have now. I used driveway markers and cement to have 3 bigger pieces that stack on top of one another, thats not an issue. Question is, to make sure that each piece aligns in the same spot on top of the other, can I use dry erase marker to put 3-4 lines on the rocks so that i use those as guide lines when I try to re-allign rocks? No idea if marker will have adverse effects in any way on the tank chemicals wise.

Ideas of what I mean (scrap pieces)

Use some epoxy and glue your pieces together. If large do them in sections, I have 3 sections of glued rocks which i just place in tank unglued. Do it right the first time, as falling rocks sucks!

Why not just put 'scratch' marks

Thought about that, but may be hard to see, as rock is all the same. What may look like scratch could be just something that was there before, and I will be trying to lign up rocks with imaginary line that I should be using lol.

I already have it cemented together and used fiberglass rods between 3 sections. I just need to make sure that I align 3 sections properly when I transfer it, as I cant transfer it all as one piece. it is like 60# of rock. It also wont fit through openings that I have on top of the tank, so I have to transfer it in 3 sections. Once they are in the tank I will super glue 3 sections together, to make sure they are held properly.

Why not cut some zip ties to size then glue them in place you get zip ties in many colours so you would be able to clearly see them just an idea .

Superglue won't hold your rocks together very well. You should easily be able to align them without any marks. Set it up on the floor and move them to tank one at a time.

I thought so too, but stupid things look to warp their shape as soon as they are taken apart lol. I had something made, took 2-3 pieces appart, and then when I tried to put it back together they didnt fit any more. It was so annoying.

I use sharpie to help keep traack of my frags so I would probably use sharpie not dry erase.

Great to know. I may just end up doing this then, as i completely forgot that a lot of people do use sharpies on frag plugs.

Yup, I've used sharpies with stuff going inside tanks for years. Obviously let it dry properly first, but otherwise I haven't noticed any ill effects.

Hi I wasn't suggesting using superglue the rocks together I was thinking cut some small pieces of cable tie then glue them onto the rock for alignment markers .
