Here’s is a pic of growth on my dry rock. It’s a light brown, little spots popping up. I’m using 7000k bulbs right now on the rocks as it’s just in a bucket. I also put a pic of my rocks during a water change. :)

Today it’s been about 2 weeks. I’m getting specs of red and some bright green! Maybe it will be many different colors. I’m using the new stuff called purple helix

Been gettting my dry rock ready for my tank it’s been in water for over a month I added some Coralline algae in a bottle some purple some red lotta green . I wanted mostly purple maybe changing of lights and atmosphere will make the purple come out versus the green I’m hoping . I’m doing a build thread tomorrow and I’ll keep everyone updated .

Well I hit a big snag....... now I remember this salt water hobby like I did before :(

So my big tub somehow sprung a leak. I have no clue how or where. There was water all in my carpet but at least it was not running out to my main area. I had it where I could remove the carpet to dry. Anyways...

I had to transfer some rock over to a brute 25g can and the water my other brute 44g had only fresh water in it. I heated and added salt as fast as I could. I thought I had the salt measurements right but no. The salt level was around .5 not 1.25 super low for the past 8hrs. My question is , is my rock that I just spent growing live bacteria and coralline algae dead? Least the other bucket of rock should be fine...

O! My tank will be up and ready in 4 days.... the tub had to leak 4 days before that?! Common. I had it running for over a month now.

Your bacteria is fine. It is deep in the rock and even a few hours out of water would not effect it much. The bacteria will grow in both fresh and salt water.
Not the best way to do a water change to get rid of those pesky nitrates:)))))
Get some fans on and under that carpet.

Thanks! Crazy how it’s fine in fresh or salt but that was no fun last night lol. Don’t know why it needed to leak right now before the transfer
