Dry rock in tapwater - any danger?

Using Life Rock from Caribsea.

Water tested my setup recently and while the hose water is still in there I would like to try some aquascaping ideas.

Will this hurt the rock in any way?

I believe so, if the tap water contains any metals in it, the rock can absorb it, only to leech it out again at a later date, possibly harming livestock

Definitely in RO water, but make sure its RODI, not just RO.

The likelihood that tapwater could do damage is low, but I'd say it is present and can be avoided to be safe. That risk isn't present in RO, a few ppm TDS is not going to absorb in any quantity large enough to make a difference.

got it - water test was just hose water but I do have RODI system I just didn't want to go through 25+ gallons of the good stuff if it wasn't an issue.

I would rather be safe so I will just use rodi just in case.
