I am not entirely sure where this post should go so I put it here.
I recently acquired a tank and a bunch of other stuff to go along with it. Included was about 30lbs of rock that about 2/3rds of it came out of the tank when he broke it down. It is long since dry but covered in all kinds of gunk. I was wondering how to go about cleaning it and adding it to a brand new system. It is a small tank so this will be all of the rock I use. I read some stuff about bleaching and stuff, but I want opinions on the best way to go about this.

I just did this and highly recommend it!

1) Clean overnight using 10:1 water:bleach solution. Rinse twice with tap water.

2) Soak overnight in 10:1 water: muratic acid solution. Rinse twice with tap water.

3) Using RODI water. Mix and 2 cups of lanthanum choride phosphate remover (Pool Time @ Home Depot) and soak rocks over nights. Rinse with clean RODI water.

4) Repeat step 3

5) Soak in RODI water overnight once more to ensure all chemicals have been purged and then rinse with RODI water.

The rock now shut look brand new and be ready for curing.
