I have a bunch of rock that I took out of my tank :( what’s the best way for me to get it back in. I don’t have an extra heater but I’m sure I can pick up a cheap one if I have too.

Sorry kinda new at this... my lfs said I could out it’s in and then when I asked about the chemistry factor they said “ ohhh yea... “ so I’m losing faith in them. Lol

thanks in advance.

It’s been a bucked for months now dry so I assume I need to cycle it? I think I already knew the right way to do this in my brain.

Depends on :
a. your tank, is it a mature tank or a newly setup tank. if it is a mature tank, assuming that your bacteria can handle die off from the rock, then just thoroughly clean the rock with water before putting back in is enough. for new tank, it's better if you cure those rocks before putting them into the tank (you know the drill :p )
b. how many those rock, if they are only a fraction to the rock in your mature tank, then just clean the rock with water, you can put them back in. but if those rocks are quite substantial, then cure them first.

those rock may contain dead organic material that would contaminate your tank. or has pests. it's a good opportunity to really examine those rocks.

I have prob 20-25 pounds of rock I could out into it.... I am told I don’t have near enough.

my tank ia 4 ish years old but most of those four year it had a few fish and I struggled my way through keeping them alive. Just recently ( last 2-3 months) have j started to get my lazy butt going because my two year old is I teased with it...

I think I will just do alittle at a time? And soak it in the water changes water for a day or two before I put it back in ( after cleaning it)

Plan to do an icp test soon to make sure nothing is too messed up as well.

And yes I know I have coral I prob don’t have any shot at keeping alive from what lm told ...

I wouldn't be so down on yourself.

You say the rock has been kept in a bucket? Wet or dry? Saltwater or tap?

You don't have a ton of rock in there, but seems like enough given that you're not jammed with fish. Your idea of going gradual sounds reasonable. Basically, fill that bucket back up with saltwater and take your time ;Shamefullyembarrased Set it next to the radiator or near the furnace.

Why do you think your corals aren't likely to do well? They look good.

Prev post about my “dirty” tank and “******” light lol

the birds nest is during a slow death and the red finger is very very picky. I am was a slight pessimist last night I’m sure. Thanks.

If have had it sitting in a bucked with an air stone for two days now. Is there a time limit I should keep it in the bucket or should I test the water?

Also thank you so much for the kind words! I was feeling really down about my tank and it made me feel better about it. Since I have added more light Atleast my zoas seem to be taking off :)
