I am starting to scape my rock with dry rock from my LFS. Do I need to do anything other than rinse it off with RODI water before I start working with it? Currently my tank isn’t set up, no water in it or anything. Starting slow.
thanks

Depending on where the dry rock came from it can be loaded with phosphate that will leach out and I would definitely not start a tank without treating those rocks.

Lanthanum chloride will remove the phosphate. SeaKlear is a popular brand sold a pool supply stores.

Many others say muriatic acid wash will also work but that dissolves part of your rocks so I have never tried this one.

I used to do a bleach cure on dry rock but apparently that only works for the phosphate on the outside of the rock. Does nothing for the stuff bound just inside the outer layer.

Not sure what rock you are using but I have sent up scapes using Marco Rock with no nutrient issues at all. I didn't even rinse them off.
