Dry rock questions!!!!

Hey guys still in setup mode on my new 32 led biocube and found a deal on 30 lbs of dry rock from reefcleaners.org. any thoughts? Red flags or can i pull the trigger and start to get this cube rocking?

I've never ordered rock from reefcleaners, I usually get it from bulk reef supply. But dry rock In general, even the stuff that says "cleaned" will have dead organics on it so you'll have to deal with that during cycling but that's going to happen with any new system so don't be too worried. Just scrub it well before adding it and run plenty of phosphate adsorbing media, and as always do water changes. Don't see why not

Any dead organics left in the rock will provide a source of ammonia while cycling your tank ... just like that cocktail shrimp you were probably going to drop in there . . .

It all depends on what you want. Dry rock, you will have to cycle, but you won't have to worry about unwanted pests. if it's within your price range and you have an aquascape look you're going for, then pull the trigger. Good luck.

I just ordered! Should I get the bio spira bacteria bottle as well or just a chunk of live rock from lfs(hitchhikers being a concern)? And I've got a protein skimmer and the in tank media basket gonna run filter floss chemipure and purigen. Suggestions on a phosphate absorber?

If you're cycling, then bacteria in a bottle should be good. I don't use a phosphate reducer/absorber. You really won't need anything like that until you're done cycling and you've added livestock.

Rock from reef cleaners is awesome. Recently got 80lbs... Haven't gotten it wet yet, but it looks great.

Decided to get the 15 lb reefcleaners.org base rock pack (free shipping!). I also went with marcorock.com for some premium cuts. And BRS for some branch pieces. Total 32 lbs. I went over budget but was told by my financial consultant, love of my life to get what I want. You folks recommend a glue, cement, rod and nuts? What brand? Same for bacteria? Hoping to get an aquascape pic when all the pieces arrive.

No, just from reefcleaners.org. I decided to go minimalist and build up from there. Ballin on a budget is hard.

Water in today! Lights on just so the picture would be better. I know it's small time but I'm so excited!! Lil worried about salinity 1.021 from lfs. Nitrate and nitrite 0.0, ph 7.5, ammonia at 0.0 too. But it's brand new with no life yet.
