Reef cleaned here also, used Marco on my last tank. I prefer reef cleaners, I did use the E Marco mortar on the reef cleaner rock!

+1 for marcos. I just got done doing my aquascaping for my new reefer with some marcos key largo and thought it was really good stuff to work with and came out nicely. No curing needed... although it's not a bad idea to let it sit in some water for a few days to get it all cleaned, but theres no real issue with just throwing it in the tank with the cycle from what I understand. Since there's no die off on the rock you'll want to add some sort ammonia to jump start the cycle. I ordered 55 lbs for my 55gal display and used roughly 40 - 45 lbs.

This isn't my final layout, but pretty close.

I have used the Marco Rocks on all of my tanks and love it. No need to cure or anything. Just rinse with tap water. I wouldn't recommend live sand either. Get some Tropic Eden sand and you will thank me. Zero dust, does not need rinsed, ultra consistent and comes in several different grades. Disclaimer: I'm the type of guy that likes to be different, try new things, purposely do things different than the norm. I prefer to lead than to follow. So I don't like to do the whole 4-8 week cycle. I like to use Dr. Tim's One and Only and have it cycled in days. I have always had great luck doing this. My current tank is flourishing and I used the exact products I just listed. But the reason for my "disclaimer" is that what works for one reefer doesn't necessarily work for another. For this reason, I don't always like posting how I do things in my setup. I don't want to someone to try it and then they not have the same success. However, I felt it would be unfair to not post the method I use... in case you want to try it yourself. With that being said, plenty of people fail when they do the 4-8 week cycle. This hobby just keeps you on your toes!

Haven't seen it mentioned yet but CaribSea claim their "LifeRock" is coated in a film of bacteria which activates when you put it in the tank and requires no curing time at all. I haven't tried it yet but I'm interested so will be buying some in the new year!
