So I'm 3 months into my new tank. This is my 4th and first using dry rock. As you can see by the top picture I have brown algae growing pretty good and has been for about 3-4 weeks now. The thing that has me scratching my head is the one and only piece of live rock, second picture, doesn't have a string on it. All of my chemistry looks great. I will add I didn't do the shrimp or dark tub thing. I did have a small ammonia spike the first week. So Im thinking the dry rock is still doing its curing thing. Tank info is:
150 gallon DD
120 pounds of dry BRS rock
25 pounds of live rock
120 pounds live sand (brs stuff)
Nitrate 0
Nitrite 0
Phosphate 0
Alk 10
Cal 420
Ammonia 0
T-5 and 250 MH lighting
I do have a couple clowns swimming around 2 dozen snails, 2 dozen hermits, couple crabs, couple cheep coral that are doing real good and a real fat dump and happy Sebae anemone for the clowns.
I hoping this is just the normal stuff and let it take its course but if there is something I can do to move the process along then I'm open to suggestions. Thanks in advance.
