how long on average does it take for dry rock to become live rock? I am pretty sure this is a tank depending question so lets say there was 50lb dry and 50lb live in a 100g aquarium

Taking into consideration that you are mixing live rock, especially that quantity, it should only take about 6-8 weeks to seed the dry rock from what I have been told. The bigger issue is, how long will the dry rock take to leach out all it's phos and dead organic matter, etc?

Leave the 50 lbs of live rock and add about 10 lbs a week. This should allow little to no cycle (atleast when I did it). I used marco and had 100 lbs going in with 50 lbs of LR. No cycle adding 10 lbs a week in my 125. It took around 5-6 weeks to seed the dry making it LR. Might also wash the dry rock with R/O water to clean off any rock dust too. Good luck

Thanks. I don't know where I will b getting my rock from yet. There is only on sw store in my area and I haven't looked at what they have. Time is really not an issue, and really the quality isn't either due to the fact that I don't have a tank set up yet so I am not too worried if I have to wait longer for the cycling process to finish.
