Dry rock with bunch of dead stuff

I have some rock that was pulled out of an established tank, and was left to dry. It is has tons of dead organisms on it, and has vermitid snails dried up on it. Is this rock safe to use?

I would hose off the loose stuff and then place in a tub of saltwater. Test for phosphates a couple times a week. If it comes up with phosphates, change the water and repeat till it's no longer leaching it out.

Another thing you can do is take a scrub brush and try to loosen up some of the stuff on it. Then do what above told you to do
