I just received 50 lbs of dry rock. How should I introduce this to my tank? I have heard many different ways. I want to ensure the current health in my tank and prevent a new cycle session if possible. Thanks for any and all advice.

First thing you should do is make sure you clean it REALLY REALLY well. Get some jugs of white distilled vinegar and soak it for a few days. Pour of the used vinegar, scrub the rocks with a toothbrush to remove any dirt and grime. Rinse it all off with RODI water and return it to a fresh tub of distilled whilte vinegar. Soak for another few days. And repeat the process. You should do this a few times.

If you want to take it one step further, you can cure it before you put it into your main tank. How old IS your tank? Do you have any fish in there yet? What equipment do you have?

My tank is about a year old or so. I currently have 2 clowns, 1 green headed goby, a porcelain crab, emerald crab, orange star fish, and some soft corals. I really want to do this right so I don't loose anything.

Soak it overnight. Then throw it in, but watch your phosphates levels, as alot of Dry Rock will leach.
