I just bought this rock. I wanted dry rock. What I didn't ask was what kind of dry rock it is..... Is it live rock that now is dry or is dry rock as in the reef saver dry rock? Cause if it's reef saver rock I'm thinking of putting it in pronto.

Regardless of whence it came, I would cure that rock first. Place the rock in saltwater with powerhead or two and a heater (no light needed), and let it steep for a month or two. Water changes as needed to lower nitrates and phosphates. Curing allows the deaths that occured when the rock was dried to leave the rock. This is why you'll see rising nitrates and phosphate numbers once you begin the cure.

I can't be absolutely certain, but it looks more like dried (Fiji) live rock than mined reef saver rock. It should be cured if that's the case. But if you're starting a brand new tank you can just cure it in the tank.... Same diff when there's no livestock

No bueno. I wanted reef saver rock cause I have an established tank with fish and corals. I wanted to put straight into the tank. So deff not reef saver rock??

Looks very similar to some reef saver dry rock I got from BRS. I got some like the picture above with the jagged edges and lots of holes, and I got some that looked like the pictures you posted.

Ok ,now im not sure again..lol.

I'll see if I can get some pictures of my rock when I get home from work haha.

It's completely possible I got a mixture of rocks as well. I thought that the two types I received from BRS looked very different from each other.

Is your rock a very light, almost white color or is it darker? The reef saver rock I have is almost white.

White with some dark areas in the holes. It isn't light..but I really don't have anything to compare to.

All the rock from the first picture I got was exactly the same, I prefer it rather than the Fiji because it looks almost completely seamless and stacks very easily.
That's why I want the reef saver.

Does it come is odd shapes. Not so much round per say?
