dry sand to a tank w/ liverock

I am moving a tank and removing a sandbed instead of trying to clean. If I add new dry sand to my tank with the existing liverock will this cause a cycle? Should I keep a couple cups of current live sand to mix with new sand, or should I just go all new?

No because there should be no die off just make sure you rinse it well.

This will likely cause a re- cycle. IME, I would keep a third of the sand, and use it under the dry sand, you have new sand, and the old stuff won't be noticed.
