dry vs live rock and pictures please

ive always used liverock,but now theres this dry rock
what do you prefer.
is there any dry users long term with great success

pls show some pics as well.

I prefer using Dry Clean Rock. It take longer to cycle but you can avoid unwanted algae or unwelcome creatures. I started out with dead rock and now you can't tell they are dead.

absolutely prefer dry rock, can start clean with no pests initially its in my opinion the best way to start off , to scape my tank I used 100 pounds of dry rock from marcorocks.com really nice rock also would recommend the rock cement kit they sell, the rocks break before the bond breaks

as you can see for the most part with the the rock from marcorocks.com the structure seemingly goes together and the rocks fit together naturally which makes it tough to tell where one rock ends and another starts which in turn makes for a very nice aquascape

+1. No pictures at this moment, but the same method in my 125 with 100 pounds of marco rocks and 50 pounds of live that I had on hand. Will use nothing but dry from here on out.

i cant see the difference,how did you do the cycle not using any live,did you use the shrimp method.
do you soak the rock,rinse it or anything else before putting it into main display

I used the BRS Pukani rock. I like that it is pest free. I cycled using live sand and some live rock. I had it in a tub for almost months while working on the actual build plan and this worked well. Cut down on the cycling process. I also like the way it looks and you can't beat the price. I got it for 2 dollars a pound when Bulk Reef Supply was running it's sale and free shipping. You end up getting more because it is dry weight.

I also used dry rock, mine was man-made rock from GARF. I do agree that it takes longer to cycle/establish, and one has to work diligently at introducing the desired microfauna into the system.

No, no phosphate issues. I did rinse the rock prior to use, but it came in precured.

I did nothing special just used 40 pounds of live sand and 80 pounds of dry sand along with the 100 pounds of rock, from that point on it was just a waiting game
