DT and Fuge side by side?

How would one go about setting up a system like this? A side by side set up where the refugium is more of a show tank as a "planted" macroalgae tank. I've not seen any examples of the plumbing set up for a side by side instead of a verticle set up with DT on top and sump on bottom.

I actually have that exact setup (much to my wife's chagrin) for my 75G FOWLR tank. My sump (an eshopps RS200) is sitting off to the side of my DT. My 75G has two HOB overflow boxes though, so they have a bit more height than a drilled tank does and thus allows for the flow.

I don't know if it would work if the sump and the DT are at the same height though and the DT is drilled. Mine is about 2 feet in difference height wise. Provided you have the sump inlet somewhat below your DT outflow, it should be able to work. I have heard of some people using pumps in the DT itself to help push water out into the sump.

I have a 7.5 plumbed in off a manifold next to my 75.

It drains back into sump refugium.
