Alright, dumb question time!

Will the acros continue to encrust like that indefinitely? When would it start growing another main stalk so to speak?

So mine all act differently. I have multiple that branch predominantly, others that encrust forever. I have a lot of flow and put them on 5x5 plates so they could encrust more. My JF foxflame has completely encrusted the plate. Seems like now I am starting to get a lot more upward branching

I have read somewhere somehow long time ago....... if you raise the tile on which its encrusting off of the rack or bottom of the tank, it will start to realize it can not continue any further down wards below the tile and away from the light, and then start to shoot branches / tips upwards.

Try it, what do you have to lose? Maybe place a smaller piece of egg crate smaller than the tile below the tile to raise it up slightly and in doing so see if the theory has substance to it.

Note this is only for encrusting sps that's close to or on the edges of the tile already. Otherwise if you try this theory and the tile still has ample space, then if any new tips shoot up it could just be randomness at work.

I actually did this with the foxflame and a few others. The foxflame has reached the ends and is definitely getting tips now

For your whole setup how many "bio-bricks" did you end up needing? I am in the middle of starting the same type of setup in my garage. Also, is that a 40g breeder as a sump? What flow settings are you using on the gyres?

I just used 1 large. It is a 40 breeder for my sump. Random settings on gyre xf 350. I really need to get some new pictures. My acros are getting pretty large.
