I have a dual reef overflow the tank unfortunately is not level when we filled it (ooopps) it's off about 1/4 of an inch. The right side is higher then the left side....... the left overflow is working but the right is not. How do I fix it WITHOUT draining the tank...... ????

Nasty or idiotic comments not appreciated

Thank you!

Your best off draining your tank unfortunately. You will be putting alot of strain on the left side of your tank and it can burst the seal. You will need to level buy putting some packers under left side of the stand but make sure its level all round

kinda impossible to fix it without draining the tank. if the water level is that far off, that only one overflow is working, sounds like its quite a bit(possibly more than 1/4"). as stated above, uneven tanks, especially larger tanks need to be level to equalize the pressure on the panes and seams.

sorry to say, draining it seems like its in your very near future. get a good 4-6' level and use that to get your stand and tank level, then fill er back up.

doubtful youd get very many nasty/idiotic comments here on R2R....that kinda sentiment is appreciated much around these parts. ;)

just drain it. in all honesty you will likely do more damage by not draining it than you would by just leaving it.

Now to drain

Can you save the water? You can leave about 1/4 in it and use a crowbar to slightly lift each corner and shim the low end until its level. The emptier the better. Depending on how well the stand is built, it might be necessary to shim the center too.

as crappy as it is... you did the right thing by draining it. especially since theres no inhabitants yet. hopefully you were able to save the water in a few brute force garbage cans and just pump it back in. plus when you shim, id use composite, less likely to compress over time and make sure you space the shims evenly and across from each other to create a balanced load. good luck!!

Ah that sucks. Been there though and had to do the same. Better safe now, then sorry later.

I'm sure you are done by now but when I leveled my tank I put a piece of 3/4 plywood under the entire frame and shimmed under the plywood to make sure the entire frame remained supported. It is 100% perfect now.
