Ok, I am building a quarantine/hospital/temp tank setup for my fish.

I currently have a 75 with a volitan, dwarf lion, porcupine puffer, and some damsels.
It is also connected to a 10gallon community tank with a black blenny, pajama cardinal, and a chromis, along with any mollies I have acclimated for the lions.

I have a few things I need to do to my Display that involve emptying it for up to a week max, and it would be nice for quarantining new arrivals since I frequently order fish for separate tanks. I need separate tanks so my Lions do not eat the peacefuls.

I have in my head an idea with what I have already.
Heres my hardware:
29gallon w/stand (non drilled)
10 gallon (drilled for 3/8ths inch bulkhead.)
an old 8x18x16 sump that fists in the 29g stand.
Pumps, heater, and an extra skimmer. (oceanic plus series model 6 w/ eheim 1250)

My first question, and possibly only question is this:

If my 10g and 29g are at the same level, can i put an overflow box in the 29 that siphons into the 10g?
I would make the Overflow drain in the 10 g about 2 inches below the waterline in the 29.g.
I am essentially hoping this will just make an oversized Overflow box that can house fish.
I have al the plumbing to make this happen if it is a feasible plan.

ANy Comments or ideas will help a lot.

Lol. Maybe this will be easier to answer.

On anthe Overflow box. Can the external part be a 10 gallon tank plumbed the same way as the small acryllic box that hangs on the tank?

Yes you just need to make sure the flow rate into the sump is the same as the return pump. We plumed a 60g into a 20g overflow/Frag tank then into the sump but! The 60 is drilled

Just put the 10 gallon up to the overflow and make sure the flow is the same and your golden. Post pics if you do do it I'd love to see it

Ok, thats awesome. I totally can do this, however, i turned that 10g into a nano with a bucket sump haha. It is still the perfect height for the 29 and is sitting next to it. I am going to make an overflow box for the 29 and then just run a u tube into the 10 with a power head to suck any air out.
i will poat pictures asap
