well my tank is a little full, but I was down at lfs in hoover the other day and they had a florescent pink ducan that was just beautiful, I managed to talk my self into getting them to frag me a couple of heads of it, got home, did the usally acclimation etc etc , well its getting close to twenty four hours and not even a hint of opening, still fully retracted. I thought ducans stayed open day and night. any thoughts? or just give it more time?

IMO, they are sensitive to water quality, especially salinity. Possibly the stores water was different enough that they are taking a bit to adjust, plus it's a fresh frag. I'd like to see a picture of it when it does open, sounds nice.

they where pretty cool, if they open I'll post a pic, right know its just a light pink twig , they had a green and white aussie whisker ducan coral couldn't talk them into a frag of that one, they where almost about two inches across each head,

We brought some back from West Palm Beach all the way to Cullman last July and they are doing great. Ours are the regular Aussie Duncans, they have almost doubled in size since we got them. I was worried after they spent 15 hours in the car ride home. Where in Hoover do you buy corals and are they reasonable on prices?

i got them from aqurium imports, like 20 bucks for two, they finally starting to open up, they where both floresent pink in the store, one looks pink, the other looks lime green around the mouth, and white/pink around the edge. still not open fully, may have found why, freaking heater is on the fritz, and read last night that it is the same one that is being recalled,

aslmx, what do you feed yours?

I am tagging along. I have a duncan frag that I have never fed. I use cyclopeeze but have not target fed it?

well I am not sure what they eat except its supossed to be meaty, proably will offer some squid tentacals and cut shrimp tonight, fed it a couple of shrimp pellets that I put in the fresh water tank this morning, it swallowed them whole in a matter of seconds, they still have not fully opened, but they are alive and eating,

I target feed them with mysis and some home made food. I dont feed them often, I did when we first got them but they seem to be doing fine on their own. We also got a sun coral, I got tired of baby sitting that thing so I just moved it out of the light and left it alone and its doing really good too. I'm just not sure on where to put the duncan, its in the sand but it has alot of new heads under the bottom that I dont believe are getting enough light but i'm scared to move it. Dont want to make it mad.

funny, those where a bright floresent pink in the store, even the hard part was pink, now both heads are lime green, and the pink twig is now light green, just goes to show you how much coral can change when you get it home, hope to get a picture up before long.
