So over the last month I placed some new acros on the rack and let them sit. All my previous corals are doing fine and recently got a par meter out just out of curiosity to see my lights. Well I found out that I left the intensity at around 30 percent when it was over the ten gallon. So I bumped up the intensity to 55 and let it ride. On one of the acros it is a Cali tort and was blue up top but green down low. I decided to bring it up closer to the now more powerful lighting and let it there for about a month. During that time I was changing my filtration over from nopox back to the simple scrubber as I didn't like the ph drop from carbon dosing. In doing so my water quality has been going all over the place and sometimes bottoming out to zero, which I would then add nitrate and over feed to bring my levels in line again.
Long story short, I now have the water quality in line again but during all that, the acros suffered a bit with becoming dull and almost colorless to others having some burnt tips. All the other corals are fine.
My question is in my logic, by getting the water somewhat dirty again and letting them brown out some to prevent from losing them would that be a safer way to go vs letting them stay pale for who knows how long.
I also reduced my lighting to 6 hour days using the sps+ab program at 30 percent so as to not fry them again.
I know I know I changed a lot of things during the last month and a half, now I'm just trying to keep everyone from bailing. There hasn't been any TN from the bottom up.
Thanks for all those that read my scattered thoughts haha
