My tank is full of aiptasia. It’s been 4 weeks since I added 3 file fishes. My tank is still full of aiptasia.

This may or may not help you. I have done this in the past with tangs and algae. All you need is one of your file fish to start eating the aiptasia and all will start eventually. This may mean borrowing a known aiptasia eating one from a friend or buying another known aiptasia eater. But once the other ones see this the chances of them starting will be relatively high.

I had one that was tanked raised that I got from a vendor at RAP-NY that did not touch one aptasia in my tank and they said it was already eating aptasia.

I put one in my tank and it only ate the teeny tiny ones...never toughed the larger ones.

Currently going through an Aptaisia infestation in my tank and with all the research Ive done Ive come to the conclusion that all the "natural" methods only seem to go after small to medium Aptaisia and never the big ones, once I get my nudis I'll be doing a two prong offensive with Aptaisia X and nudibranchs.

Try Aptasia X and there is also an Majeno/Aptasia wand that you can use to zap them. I had a few over a year ago and between the Aptasia X and the wand I was able to rid my system of it.

I plan on using the X on the big ones but want to give the natural way a chance first and if all fail will wait on @UWC for an intank treatment [emoji848][emoji33]

My typical method of dealing with aiptasia is attack it as soon as it is spotted and take a two prong approach. I typically purchase a group of peppermint shrimp ASAP. If I see a few aiptasia that are still hanging around, I cover them with super glue. I know people have mixed feelings about peppermint shrimp, but they have always worked for me. I currently let aiptasia grow in the sump and overflow. The display tank has no observable aiptasia. I have one peppermint shrimp in the display at this time and it only comes out at night. I'm assuming it is the one eating any aiptasia that appears because I don't have anything else that would eat aiptasia.

I tried using peppermint shrimp, they only last couple of days before They become food for my wrasses. I can’t have a nudibrach since I have wrasses. Aiptaisia X is too messy. I tried CBB but it only lasted 2 days. I will give the file fish a little more time, if it doesn’t work then I will reevalute.

...... all my fish are dumb ...... well, except for the emperor who grunts .....

Well I’m packed with wrasses and more to come but I do have to try something soon cause they are taking over.

Yea, I added a File Fish to eat Aptasia, and he never touched them. He’s a cool fish, but doesn’t eat Aptasia like he was supposed to.

If your file fish won’t eat the aphasia, cut back on how much you feed your fish for a few days. When they get hungry they will start eating them. However they will eat your lps as well.

I'm about to try a couple shrimps soon. Heard mixed results on the file fish . N ow every Copper Band Iv'e had ate them right up. Now kalk paste will surely kill the ones you can get to but one can bet there are a lot more . haven't gotten to the apastia x . Is it a whole tank treatment or is it a target thing? I need to do something soon .
