Dumb question for varios 2 pump owners

Just received pump set it up in sump with float switch all works fine.

however before I installed I tried to take base off to see how I could access impeller to clean it as I normally clean pumps each month.

I could not slide base off to twist off front to get to impeller.

what’s the trick?

I slightly tapped mine to get the base free, then the front twisted off.
