I have an opportunity to get a mp40 not the quiet drive for pretty cheap but I only have a 20 gal tank. Is it too big? Also what really is the difference between the qd and non qd?

I have a mp10 on my 29 gallon and have never run it over 40%. I suspect the mp40 would be far too large for you.

Never had the old style but my understanding is they could be noisy when speeding up and/or slowing down. If you get the mo40, i doubt you’ll be running it high enough to hear it. But I’d wait for someone who knows more about the QD to chime in.

I believe the minimum flow of MP-whatever pumps is 30% of the max. They don’t slow down to a crawl’ so 10% not really 10%

I have the older, original mp10. it still runs great, and it is not loud if you have it lined up perfectly. If it ever kicks the bucket though I will be going with the jebaos for the money.
