So.. i start cycling my 45 gallon hex tonight... as im filling it, etc im noticing how much more water ....350 lbs filled? Estimate.. anyways... heres the question. House only 10 yrs old, but the floor joyces...does any think they need reinforcing? Hahhaha. Or is that only on tanks like 100 gallons plus? Thanks

Not dumb--an important consideration. However, not enough info to properly evaluate. Which way are the floor joists going and did you position the stand to straddle several of them? Are you against a wall or in the middle of the room? Think about where the load path is all the way to the foundation. Ideally, you want a straight vertical shot.

A framed floor structure will yield under a heavy load. May require several attempts to fill and drain the tank to shim it such that the water level is even at all four corners. That is very important to ensure the tank seams are not over stressed, which could result in leaks or failure at some later time.

Omg. Theres a cross steel support beam.in basement About 6 inches from corner tank placement on floor above. Hahahahha...unless those fish are Superman, its not moving... Thanku.
