Duncan advice

I was just wanting to see if my Duncan’s should be good where I placed them . The ones on the left are supposed to be branching, the middle one is An unknown Blue colored one, and the larger ones on the right were a “clump” ...
I’ve read where they like to be on sand bottoms but I have them on rocks ... I figured they should be okay.

Also, I got a fat head dendro today, I’m excited about him.

Also, my phos is .01 and nitrates are zero’s out ... I’ve been trying to feed extra with frozen M shrimp .... that should help shouldnt it ...

I am running Purigen and a small bag of chemi pure elite ....

I have my Duncan mounted on my rock and it's doing great. Had it about six months and it's tripled in size. I did have mine slightly higher in my tank at first and it wasn't happy there. As long as there isn't too much flow they are pretty happy, mine closes as soon as flow gets too much. In my experience Duncan's make it pretty obvious if they're unhappy
As for the nitrates, im not too familiar with purigen but isnt it designed to remove organics before they can break down into nitrates meaning that it would stop your nitrates from building up, might be worth double checking?

I've had Duncans grow in pretty much every condition. I do feed mine heavily(2-3x weekly). Also nice Dendro! It looks hungry as well.

I agree with this, my Duncan's are pretty heavy eaters

Oh and Purigen can reduce nitrates, although it is mostly just pretty good at adsorbing organics. You can offset low nutrients with feeding, they don't need to be high, there are countless successful systems with zero or near zero.

i have two different duncan frags, one was on the sandbed and unhappy with placement, as soon as i moved it mid tank level on the rocks it was happy as can be. the other is almost right infront of my powerhead and loves that spot. they love reef roids, and catch lots of food during feeding time!

My Duncan’s have always done best mounted on rock, mid tank and in some good flow.

I appreciate it guys - I have been feeding them pretty well ... Usually 3 days a week, and sometimes they catch a little more on the side.
I just got the dendro a couple days ago, I am planning on feeding him every other day if not more often. I put him under an overhand in my tank ... Hoping that it does alright with a little flow.
