I have had this Duncan for about 3 months now. It came to be literally looking like a white wishbone. It was not mounted to anything like I said it looked like a bone. I put it in the tank anyway and in a matter of days it opened up with two heads

All has been doing well until about 3 days ago. It closed up and has not opened since. But I noticed it has about 7 new baby heads around the base. Is it closing to allow the babies to grow? Or is something wrong?

Water parameters are all in check.

Probably just growing spurts.
Mine are very finicky and fussy.

Almost crybabies of my tank.[emoji2]
Same, mine like to close randomly for a few days and then just open back up. I would not worry about it unless you start to see color or tissue loss.

My original Duncan Grew from two heads to about 17. Never close up. Not even when growing new heads. Then one day it closed up and did not open For about A month before I started to get worried. It never opened again slowly died. I was so upset I could not understand why it grew so well and then all the sudden just died. I waited about 2 months and got a new frag. My current frag is up to about nine heads now and is growing well hardly ever closes. Hopefully it won't happen again. My experience is that they do not close up to grow new heads and that there may be something wrong with it. However When it happened to mine people said that Duncan do this all the time and it should open back up. So maybe mine was just a weird occurrence. I don't know

Mine seldom closes, and if it does it's only for a few hours. It's up to 20 heads from 3, never closed to grow new ones. I'd say yours is unhappy about something.

What's strange is the most developed little heads are open but the big heads are closed. That's why I assumed that the larger heads closed so the little heads could get more light

I also recently changed my return pump from a sicce 3 to a jebao DCS7000. I wonder if the difference in flow made it mad? I did make a lot of adjustments before getting it just right.

It has opened back up as well as all the little heads now. Here it is after I moved it to a lower flow area. The camera makes it blue but it's actually purple.
