My Duncan did a similar thing out of the blue for a little over a week, then opened back up. Only thing i uncovered in researching was feedback of "yeah that happens sometimes".

Yea that’s what I noticed in most threads but want to make sure it’s not dying

I would take a look at lighting and flow. Not sure of your setup by most of issues with duncans have involved not getting placement right or it being stung and dying fairly quickly.

Same thing happened to me As long as there is no tissue necrosis it should be fine. I moved mine to an are of lower lighting and light flow and it eventually opened again. Keep us posted

I have the Red Sea reefwave 45 on a 30% setting for 75 gallon tank on uniform setting and it’s not round any other corals to get stung

I noticed tiny heads starting to form can that be a reason

I had my Duncan for several years and grew from one to 30 heads, then it just closed up for several months last year. I tried and tested everything, nothing. Then I switched salt from IO/RC to Fritz and started opening again, then after a week of it peaking out a bit it went back in. Gave up on it and gave it to a fellow reefer. Everything else fine. I just recently got a different Duncan, one head to try again, still no go. The only thing in the ICP tests is my aluminum has been rising the last 8 months. Maybe the culprit, I don't know.
