Hey so I just isntalled my nano mini skimmer, My duncan has been closed up eversicne this morning and I havent broken my skimmer in yet, is this normal or should I do more digging?

Looks like a lot of air bubbles in the water. That could be the cause
Could it? I know my skimmer has a bunch of microbubbles going on and I was told theres a breaking period for it. should i try moving him?

When I clean my skimmer I takes a few for the bubbles to calm down. Duncan’s do tend to close up during that time. If it stays bubbly in there they eventually open back up anyway. I think the bubs just irritate em a bit.

I am unsure of mag levels, cal is about 440 ppm and alk was around I beilive 8 something? Its slowly opening up again

On sunday im gonna getr around to spot feeding
Okay mix frozen mysis in cup slowly spit it out with baster in mouth (In case you weren’t sure )

Assure nitrate and mainly phosphate as well as salinity has not become elevated. Normally these are very forgiving and require moderate light and water flow and feed 2-3x a week. Placement looks good. I keep mine in lower third of tank

I have not, This entire time ive been feeding it this powder type of coral food for lps and mixing it with aquarium water then basting it to each of my lps then swapping to the sps and doing the same thing

That’s good for soft corals and sps while some lps corals like more meaty foods

I spot feed each head about twice a week

yea I just never realized some coral eat like big shrimp or the stuff I feed my clown
Yeah took me time to figure this out also when I had an acan coral I never fed it untill I realized I needed to always very tiny pieces nothing big so it’s not as stressful to the coral

How old is your tank?
What kind of light do you have? Corals seem to be reaching for light IMO
Any flow in that tank?
Edit: Seems like build up on the water surface too.
