Duncan coral flesh tear

Need help identifying what is happening to my Duncan. Stopped opening a few days ago and noticed this tear forming on the flesh.

Water parameters are normal except my nitrate was a bit high today (.5) and ph was low (7.8)

Could be a new head forming or something might be picking at it.

It was my Emerald crab picked at it. Unfortunately the Duncan did not survive.

I had a similar situation. Not sure if the Emerald caused the problem or just finished it but my Duncan deteriorated in less than 24 hours. The crab got Sumped. All Duncan’s have thrived since.
