Need help identifying what is happening to my Duncan. Stopped opening a few days ago and noticed this tear forming on the flesh.

Water parameters are normal except my nitrate was a bit high today (.5) and ph was low (7.8)

What else is in your tank? I woke up to find a head gone and didn't know what happened. Later that day I saw my emerald crab trying to pull out another one.

I still have the crab but he was getting hungry with no algae in the tank.

Yep. I have an Emerald Crab in there. That may have been the problem...Any chance for recovery?

Get the hikari sinking algae wafers. The emerald will go to town on those and not your corals. The ducan will recover on it own.

Emerald is reef safe until it is starving and then not so much.

My emrald snapped up a few small fish already! He was donated to the LFS due to no algae in the tank for him :(
