My Duncan coral has been doing really well, I noticed it closed up one day, which isn’t totally out of the ordinary, usually it opens back up fully, but I noticed it wasn’t opening back up for over a day. It’s been a few days and I noticed it looked a little different in some spots. Is this something I need to be concerned about or are these spots new heads forming?

It looks like it’s reproducing more heads. My Duncan corals can be very moody when it comes to change in the environment. Has anything changed lately? Lights, temp, salt, chemicals, or placement? Do you feed them, they tend to really love meaty foods!!

It's not abnormal for them to close up for days at the time. A jump in nitrate, flow or bumping them during maintenance or for no known reason. Yours looks fine. Don't do anything for a few days. Should open back up.

hope you update this thread in a few days. Personally, it doesnt look like babies to me, but good luck and keep us posted

Nothing has changed, I keep the same light schedule, staying on top with water changes, all parameters are consistent with what they’ve been too. I’ve fed or reef roids and sometimes pellets on occasion too, but that’s all

Patients. He'll slowly open. It's pretty common. He'll be ok.

It started opening up last night and today it’s been opened up like this. Not as full as it was, but I’m guessing it’s working back up to that point. Here’s a picture of the side of it as well, looks like a little head forming, so hoping that’s all it is
