Whats the best position for duncans mine has been closed for about 2 weeks now.ive tried high light and flow low light and flow.sometimes look like they are going to open the close tight again.water is fine aswell

What lighting are you using. Every Duncan I've kept have been under T5HO, low to med flow.
Inspect closely for pest. Could something be picking on it? Peppermint shrimp?
Have you tried target feedings?

Leds havent seen anything bothering it tho.got it just off the bottom now in gentle flow.will give it a week undisturbed and see how it goes

I did target feed when i 1st got it as it opened then but been closed ever since

No nothing like that.every now and again it looks like its going to open then it closes up again

When i first got my 3 heads they refused to open. They were in low flow area. Moved to medium they started to open. Increased to high flow they are always open and huge. 6 years later a giant mass of dozens of heads. I have had t5 than halide than led now back to halide. I found the flow was the only thing that caused them to not open, as long as your perimeters are in check if they are closed more than a day i check my trates and phos.

Ok i will try re directing some more flow towards them see if that does the trick thanks :)

Mine was a single head at low flow low light, I moved it to high flow and light over time and now it's always open, huge and has 3 heads in just over 4 months.

My duncans like medium flow. Your duncans are not looking good, they have been like that for 2 weeks? Are you sure something isn't bothering/stinging it?

Duncans are weird in the manner they will close for a short time if they get startled but seem to not be bothered by my large gonipora. The gonipora brushes against a clump of heads but they do not close up. Other corals shy from this gonipora but my fox coral and duncan could care less.

No.nothing bothering it at all maybe its because i have experemented moving it around trying to get it to open i will try not touching it for a week or so and see what happens

my duncans are in light flow right now and they open up huge. My emerald crabs like to hide in the branches. I have 50+ heads so the crab makes them close every so often.

I only put it in that spot yesterday and re directed a bit of flow towards it.looks like he may be sparking into life at last -)
