Duncan frag plug placement

The tank is 28” deep. If you look in my original post, I took photos of it close up and then from a distance. He’s currently a little more than halfway down, so appx 18” from the surface now I’d say. All of my levels are testing perfect, so I know it’s not water, it has to be light and/or flow, he’s hidden from the direct flow, so it’s in low flow range I’d say. I really don’t know where else I could move him. I initially had him closer to the surface-really didn’t like that. This spot here it was starting to open up then went back in

Did you acclimate him to the light by either turning the light down or putting him in the bottom and slowly raising him up? It often takes a coral a good 2 weeks to get used to the light, you want to adjust them slowly over the course of those 2 weeks to the lighting.

Hmm...maybe that’s where I ticked him off. (Insert facepalm emoji) ‍♀️

Y’all. Look at him already...

I would leave it where you had it out of hard flow but enough to freely wave about. The worse thing you can do is move it around. Target feed small amounts and it will bounce back. My experience with locating them near sand has not been great so mine stays on the main rock structure.

I started that colony with two heads. Feed lightly and once or twice a week. Your patience will be rewarded.

I got these frags online and here they are 30 minutes after their dip.

And the duncan looks like this when after lights on this morning.

I hope yours and mine will flourish well.

I have my duncan colonies both in the sand bed and within my rock work and I have no issues. I have a 265 gallon tank with about 4000 gallons an hour running through it so higher flow and they are doing just fine. I feed Reef Roids 2 times a week and I have my Ecotech Radions on 65% and my colonies are thriving.
