How do Duncan grow. Over the past 2 months mine has become happy (maybe has something to do I actually have my water levels right). It is popping babies out all over but it looks like it is running out of room on its little stock. The stock that I have is maybe 3/4" tall and 1/2" wide. It is basically the shape of a bullet. Will its stalk grow at some point? I have it sitting in the sand with nothing around it. Do I need to place it on a rock so it has something to grow to? I love the Duncan. I got it when I first start in this hobby and is the one thing that has lived through all the learning process. Also how big can these guys get? I have never really seen anyone with more then 6 or 7 heads on them.

Assuming your Ca, Alk and Mg in line and stable, yes the stalks will grow. They're a "branching" coral, and thier growth reminds me of Caulastrea species, even though they're not really related, however Duncanopsammia axifuga has tissue that grows in between the polyps on the stalk unlike Caulastrea sp.

Like Junior said, they get big... real big. I've seen freshly imported colonies that are well over 200 heads.
