So is this some sort of snail hitchhiker that is on my Duncan. Thought maybe a new head at first but not thinking so anymore. He was open a little while ago but I guess is camera shy. 2nd pic I believe is one Duncan growing a new head.

Can't speak on the snail , but the second picture looks like aiptasia to me. Would appreciate a second opinion, however. Best of luck.

+1, get some aiptasia-x or other chemical remedies. there are some chemical free ways but I would still inject aiptasia-x into the head out of water.

for now I pulled the frag off the rack and took him off. Put some super glue where he was.

Maybe went a little heavy on the glue but I want it gone. I don’t see any signs anywhere else on my floating frag rock

No dumb questions here friend, Reefing is hard as it is nobody In this hobby gets there with out some input.
As far as the black bump goes I wish I could help I.D. it for you but it hard to tell from pics alone. looks a bit like a vermetid snail in shape but I've never known them to grow directly on the flesh of a coral, perhaps its some bruised flesh. Worst case it could be some fungal or bacterial growth that would require a dip, how long has it displayed like this. You can try and refence this Article on coral diseases to help I.D. https://www.artificialreefs.org/Corals/diseasesfiles/Common Identified Coral Diseases.htm

a new polyp wont grow from the branch like that, it will sprout from the bottom of the polyp (the pink fleshy part)

I cut the sucker off with my coral clipper. Duncan looked good underneath. Looked for sure like a vermetid snail from the photos I’ve seen.

That is what I am hoping. I love Duncan coral. I have been giving them reef roids twice a week. Fun to watch them eat.
I started with 2 single heads Duncans 5-6 months ago. here they are now. Totals 12 heads. Love my Duncans too.

I feed them frozen brine and mysis 4-5x week. They seem to love it. Growth exploded once i figured that out.

RR for my Zoas and shrooms.
