I’ve had my Duncan for about 4 days now. I understand it may take some time to open. However it has a brown /white slime over it. Any ideas as to why?!

That looks like brown jelly disease, which I believe is caused by a bacteria. You have to act quickly to try to save it. Brown jelly can kill an entire colony in a matter of days.

I took it out and it smelled terrible. I’m guessing it’s dead. I’m fairly new to this hobby so I’m still learning

Where are you located? My duncan has plenty of heads, I wouldn't miss a few.

If it makes you feel better, I had a frogspawn bite the dust within a few days of bringing it home..... I thought I was doing everything wrong..... I have lost very little, and what I have lost, I know WHY, which is much better than not knowing!

I’m in Jacksonville N.C., if you’re close I would appreciate the hook up! I knew going into all this that I would have some set backs but eventually I’ll learn and be better.

Not close! Sorry!

What are your water parameters? I personally don't test mine if I don't have to, but if something actually dies, I'd probably test.
