Duncan not fully extended during day only at night is this normal?

Hey guys! I have had this Duncan for about two weeks now and during the day it’s tight not fully extended but at night fully open and extended is this normal? It has 4 heads two small top and bottom and two big left and right

At two weeks I wouldn't be too concerned. At least he's open as they can be pretty sensitive. Might still be getting used to your lights. They also like to eat if you haven't tried feeding it.

I have a similar Duncan, it can get moody compared to my other Duncan which almost never closes up, if your parameters are good then I wouldn’t worry.

Try some mysis or other meaty food.

You probably have it under to much light. If they retract like that, they're hiding from too much light. I would lower it or turn the lights down.

I love feeding mine mysis, they look like a Venus fly trap. Duncan’s are pretty hardy when it comes to care so it might not like your light intensity, OP

May take it a few days to adjust. Good job.

Likely getting too much light. Most LPS need a lot less light than people think. You’re unlikely to starve an LPS with too little light, but you can definitely over illuminate them.

Try moving it off axis or in a partially shaded area and see if that helps.

I have two Duncan’s that can be moody. Once it gets adjusted to your tank it will be less moody. As mentioned above, they like to eat. After a couple weeks of feeding it should get happy and start growing.I feed mine every couple days. Mine seem to enjoy plain ol fish pellets.

What's your fish and invert stocking? Tucked away during lights on can be a sign of a fish picking at it.
